Amerks To Hold Blood Drive Saturday

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that they will be teaming up with The Rochester Knighthawks and The American Red Cross to hold a very important blood drive on Saturday, March 22nd from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. This blood drive is part of the Amerks and Knighthawks Health & Wellness Weekend. That night, the Knighthawks will be in action as they play host to the Chicago Shamrox. Faceoff is set for 7:35 p.m.

Due to recent weather conditions, the blood supply in Rochester has dropped, making blood donations very necessary. Donations from this blood drive will ensure that local hospitals have the blood required for their patients in need.

All blood donors at the event will receive a voucher for a free ticket to a Rochester Americans or Rochester Knighthawks game. Each donor will be entered into a special drawing to win free Amerks memorabilia and an autographed Knighthawks jersey.

All donors must be at least 17 years old or 16 with parental permission and must weigh a minimum of 110 pounds. Donors can call 1-800-Give Life to schedule a blood donation appointment. For more information, please contact the Amerks Office at (585) 454-5335.

After starting off their long string of road games with a pair of losses in the Lone Star State, the Amerks to look to improve their record this weekend with the third and fourth of their five consecutive away games this month.

Tonight, the Rochester Americans return to home ice to host the Grand Rapids Griffins at The Blue Cross Arena in this divisional matchup. The 7:35 p.m. contest can be heard live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. The contest will also be televised live on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26. The game is the first in the friendly confines of The Blue Cross Arena since March 2nd.

Tonight's game falls on the next installment of the Amerks' Friday Night Frenzies. Fans can enjoy live music from the Ozone Rangers in the main lobby of The Blue Cross Arena up until gametime. As part of the festivities, fans can purchase special packages courtesy of Zweigle's. The package includes four 200 Level End seats, four hot dogs, four sodas and four magazines for $60.00. It may be purchased through the Amerks office at 585-454-5335 or through The Blue Cross Arena Box Office. It's also College Night. Students can show their college ID at the Box Office and receive a $16.00 ticket for $10.00 or a $12.00 for just $8.00. Lastly, it's also Wendy's Night. Buy one, get one free ticket vouchers for the contest are also available at any participating Wendy's Restaurants.

This is the fifth of eight scheduled contests between the divisional opponents this season. The Amerks are 2-1-0-1 this season and 14-15-2 all-time against the Detroit Red Wings' affiliate.
