Rochester Americans News Release

(Rochester, NY)... Veteran forward Graham Mink scored 26 seconds into the contest, but it was not enough as the Rochester Americans fell short in a 2-1 loss to the Manitoba Moose tonight at the MTS Centre. The game was the second leg of a two-game set between the North Division rivals. With the loss, Rochester drops to 18-4-1-0 on the season and to 2-2-0-0 on its current season-long six-game road trip.

Mink provided Rochester's lone goal as goaltender Ryan Mior, who signed a 25-game professional tryout with the team earlier in the day, completed his Amerks debut with a 22-save performance.

Manitoba defenseman Aaron Rome potted back-to-back goals for the hometown Moose, his first and second of the season, to earn first star honors. The former Syracuse Crunch blueliner finished the night with a plus-one on-ice rating and a game-high five shots on goal. Corey Schneider earned his 10thwin of the season with a 26-save effort.

The Amerks came out flying early in the game, 26 seconds to be exact, as Mink netted his ninth tally of the season to give Rochester the quick 1-0 lead. The goal was Mink's third in as many games and his fifth point in his last three outings. Chris Taylor collected the lone assist on the play as he gathered his fourth assist and fifth point in his last three games. The 18-year pro is now just four points away from reaching the 1,000-point plateau.

Manitoba evened the game at one apiece at 17:07 on the power-play with Rome's first of the night. Marty Murray and Matt Pettinger each tallied the helpers on Rome's first of the season. Rome struck again at 9:08 of the second stanza to give the Moose a 2-1 lead, and ultimately the win, as the next 31 minutes of the contest would remain scoreless.

The Amerks remain on the road as they head to Canada's western coast for a pair of encounters with the Abbotsford Heat on Saturday, December 5th and Sunday, December 6th. The games will mark the first-ever meetings between Rochester and Abbotsford, one of three new expansion teams in the AHL. Opening faceoff for both contests are scheduled for 9:00 p.m. EST starts at the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre and will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk.
