Americans Score Three Unanswered, Beat Texas in OT

Allen Texas- The Allen Americans (14-4-4) defeated the Texas Brahmas (11-8-4) Friday night 3-2 in Overtime on Scott Langdon's first goal of the season.

The Americans found themselves down 2-0 after 20 minutes of play, as Brendon Hodge opened the scoring for Texas, with a shot from the right wing boards that found its way through Marco Cousineau for a 1-0 Brahmas lead. The Brahmas would add to their lead just a little over 12 minutes later when Adam Hogg followed up Dan Nichols shot, poking it in on the back-hand to make it 2-0 Texas after 20 minutes of play. The Brahmas outshot the Americans 13-6 after the first 20 minutes of play.

Jarret Lukin cut in to the Texas lead, netting his 8th of the year on a great pass from Trevor Hendrikx. Lukin turned and fired a quick wrister from the left face-off circle beating Steve Silverthorn to make it 2-1 Texas after 40 minutes of play.

In the third the Americans came out flying putting continued pressure on the Brahmas and netminder Steve Silverthorne. Allen finally tied it up at the 14:09 mark of the third, when Jason Deitsch followed up his own rebound sliding the puck into the net to even it at 2-2. The score would remain that way over the final five and a half minutes sending it overtime.

In the extra session, Scott Langdon, at fifty nine seconds from Trevor Hendrix let one fly from the left point that beat Silverthorn. The Americans would rally for the second game in a row to win. This time in overtime 3-2 on Scott Langdon's first of the season, and it came in his 200th professional game.

"I think once we get settled in to our game and going, things are fine but we seem to forget about 15 minutes," said Head Coach and GM Dwight Mullins.

The Americans continue the three game homestand tomorrow night against the Laredo Bucks at 7:05 PM.
