GLENDALE, AZ (December 16, 2011) - The Allen Americans are the hottest team in the CHL having the highest winning percentage in the league (.714) and today have been voted the #1 team in the latest CHL Coaches Poll. The poll will be released on or near the beginning and middle of each month throughout regular season with each first place vote receiving 10 points, second place votes earning 9 points, etc.
Allen (13-4-4) has won three of their last four games and find themselves with the most amount of points in the league and at the top of the Berry Conference. In the recent poll, Allen received twelve of the possible fourteen first place votes (teams are unable to vote for themselves) with the Turner Conference leading Evansville IceMen (13-5-1) receiving the other two first place votes.
Despite receiving the other first place votes, the IceMen finished third in the poll trailing the #2 Wichita Thunder (14-7-0) by 10 points. The Thunder did not receive any first place votes, but due to receiving eight second place votes, they landed the silver medal.
The biggest move in the recent poll came from the Quad City Mallards (11-9-1) who landed out of the previous poll with just three points but this time sit in the #6 spot thanks to their 5-1-1 record in the month of December. The Texas Brahmas (11-8-3) also made a big jump moving from the #10 spot to the #7 spot. The team that fell the furthest is the Missouri Mavericks (10-8-2) who dropped four spots to #9 in the recent poll.
