Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
ALLEN, Texas (December 16) - Despite getting out to a 2-0 lead, the Brahmas were unable to hold on in Allen on Friday night, dropping their third straight game 3-2 in overtime to the Americans.
Texas made a late roster move on Thursday as Kyle Howarth left the team and Dan Nicholls, a rookie forward who played six games for the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees earlier this year, was added to the roster.
The Brahmas got out to an early lead with two first period goals. The first was scored by Brendon Hodge on a slapshot from the circle just over three minutes into the game. Then at the 15:33 mark, Adam Hogg cleaned up a rebound off of Allen netminder Marco Cousineau's blocker and put Texas up 2-0 heading into the first intermission. New addition Nicholls was credited with the first assist on the Brahmas' second goal of the night.
The Americans cut the deficit in half when Jarret Lukin snuck the puck past Brahmas goaltender Steve Silverthorn at the 7:54 mark of the second period.
Allen evened up the score at two apiece at the 14:09 mark of the third period when former Brahmas captain Jason Deitsch scored his seventh goal of the season. Deitsch's goal came on a four-minute powerplay after Calin Wild was given a double minor for high sticking. The score would remain tied for the rest of the third period, sending the game into overtime, in which the Brahmas were 0-2 entering Friday night's game.
Just 54 seconds into the extra frame, Scott Langdon scored his first goal of the season to give the Americans the overtime victory. For the Brahmas, it was only their second loss of the season when leading after two periods.
The Brahmas have lost three straight games and look to get back on track on Saturday when they host the Rapid City Rush at 7:30pm at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
