Americans Open the Preseason Tonight

ALLEN Texas- The Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League open the preseason tonight (October 14th) against Metroplex rivals the Texas Brahmas at 7:05 pm at Allen Event Center.

The Americans won the Governors Cup trophy last season for having the best record in The CHL at 47-16-3. The Americans swept through the first round of the playoffs beating Rio Grande Valley in three straight, then defeated Odessa in five games in round two, before falling to the eventual CHL Champions Bossier-Shreveport in five games in the Berry Conference Finals.

The Americans return seven players from last season's roster, Bruce Graham, Ryan Hand, Colton Yellow Horn, Brian McMillin, Jarret Lukin, Mike Berube and Dylan King.

The Americans welcome former Brahmas Captain Jason Deitsch, who was acquired from Texas this off season for future considerations. In three seasons with Texas, Deitsch scored 54 goals and 164 points.

"After a long week of practice the guys are anxious to get into game action." said Allen Head Coach and GM Dwight Mullins. "This weekend will really help us make a couple decisions.

The Americans have two goaltenders on the roster for Fridays preseason affair. Brian Mahoney-Wilson, who played last year with Lake Superior State University and Rejean Beauchemin a former sixth round draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2003.
