Sher-Wood and Easton Return as CHL Equipment Suppliers
October 14, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
TEMPE, AZ (October 14, 2011) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that Sher-Wood Hockey, Inc and Easton Sports, a division of Easton-Bell Sports, Inc, will once again be the exclusive sticks, pants and gloves options for league teams and players during the 2011-12 CHL season.
"The CHL has had a long partnership with Sher-Wood and are very pleased to be extending the relationship with Easton for the upcoming season," said Duane Lewis, CHL Commissioner. "The quality of the equipment from both companies gives allows our players to compete at a high level and the service to the league and its teams has been outstanding over the length of the partnerships. We feel the two choices represent the best in the industry and give our players the opportunity to perform at their highest level."
It marks the seventh consecutive season that the CHL and Sher-Wood have partnered to provide CHL players with an outstanding selection of sticks, pants and gloves. The partnership between the league and the Sherbrooke, Quebec based company began in the Spring of 2004.
Sher-Wood Hockey Inc. specializes in the design and manufacturing of ice hockey sticks and protective equipment. The company offers one of the most diversified product lines in the industry and is the exclusive game puck and official souvenir puck supplier to the National Hockey League. In the winter of 2008, Sher-Wood Hockey Inc. purchased the assets of the TPS Sports Group who was among industry leaders in the production of hockey sticks and protective equipment. This gives the CHL selection from both companies for sticks, pants and gloves.
Additionally, Sher-Wood will once again be the title sponsor of the Sher-Wood/CHL Player and Goaltender of the Month awards and will again be the presenting sponsor for the CHL All-Star Game Most Valuable Player awards (one award to a member of each participating team).
The CHL and Easton began their partnership prior to the 2010-11 season and immediately saw the relationship strengthen.
Easton Hockey ranks atop the industry in sticks and gloves and is growing faster in skates than any other company. Despite having been in existence for only 20 years, Easton Hockey has climbed the ladder quickly among NHL and amateur level players. Players choose Easton products because of their innovation, technology and dedication to the same successful strategy that catapulted the company to the forefront of the baseball/softball industry.
Along with their sister companies Bell, Riedell and Giro (leaders in racing, football, cycling and snowboarding helmets), Easton is at work in their R & D lab developing hockey helmets that address the increasing concern of concussions.
Opening night of the CHL's historic 20th Anniversary season is Friday, October 21 with four games slated around the league.
