Chris Chappell Assigned to Thunder

Wichita, KS- The Wichita Thunder announces that forward Chris Chappellhas been assigned to the Thunder by the New York Rangers.

A third-year pro out of Pickering, Ontario, Chappell has spent part of the last two seasons with the Rangers' American Hockey League affiliates the Hartford Wolf Pack and the Connecticut Whale. Chappell, a 6-4, 215-pound power forward spent the majority of last season with the ECHL's Greenville Road Warriors, notching nine goals and 21 points in 53 games.

Prior to turning pro, Chappell played four seasons with the Ontario Hockey League's (OHL) Saginaw Spirit. He put up huge numbers in 2008/09, his final junior season, piling up 38 goals and 76 points in 68 games.

The newest Thunder team will see their first action tonight and tomorrow when they host the Tulsa Oilers at the Wichita Ice Center. Both games will face-off at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the Thunder office, located at 505 W. Maple. Former Thunder greats Bryan Wells and Sean O'Reilly will coach the Thunder for their exhibition games.
