
Americans Hold on for 4-3 Win over Brampton

Allen, Texas - The Americans and Beast faced off on a foggy Friday night at the Allen Event Center. A strong second period propelled the Americans over the Beast, giving them a 4-3 win.
Brampton got the on the board quick when Michael MacIssac found the back of the net only 14 seconds into the game. The goal was assisted by Jamie VanderVeeken, giving Brampton an early 1-0 lead.
Allen answered back at the 13:27 mark of the first, when Darryl Bootland netted his 13th goal of the season, assisted by Greger Hanson and Trevor Hendrikx. Going into the first intermission, the Americans held an edge on shots with 15-6 and were tied 1-1 with the Beast.
The second saw four goals, the first when Americans forward Alex Lavoie lit the lamp at the at the 7:09 mark of the second period, giving Allen a 2-1 lead. The goal, his team-high 14th of the season, was assisted by Darryl Bootland and Jonathan Lessard. The Americans struck again at the 9:10 mark when Kale Kerbashian slid the puck past Brampton goalie Grant Rollheiser, assisted by Jamie Schaafsma and John Snowden giving Allen a 3-1 lead.
The Beast cut the lead to 3-2 when Andrew Fournier notched his 11th of the season at the 11:30 mark of the second. The goal was assisted by Michael Couch and Jamie VanderVeeken. The Americans struck back with 29 seconds to go in the frame, when Kale Kerbashian netted his second goal of the night, assisted by Phil Fox and Jamie Schaafsma. Allen went into the second intermission leading Brampton 4-2 and held an 11-6 edge on shots.
Brampton had the sole goal of the third period. Tylor Michel slid the puck past Americans goalie Bryan Pitton, assisted by Andrew Fournier and Tyler Butler at the 12:12 of the third frame. The goal closed in on the Allen lead, making it 4-3, but was not enough to clinch the game. The Americans held an 11-8 edge on shots on the period and a 37-20 edge for the entire game.
With the win, Allen improves to 14-8-2 on the season and Brampton falls to 13-12-1. The Americans will face-off against the Beast again, Saturday, December 21st at 7:05 at the Allen Event Center. Please join us for our Post-Game Skate and get a chance skate with Santa!
