Rapid City Wins 10th Straight Road Game; Ties CHL Record
December 20, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
GLENDALE, AZ - The Rapid City Rush have tied the Central Hockey League record for consecutive road wins by taking their 10th straight game away from home. The record-tying feat was accomplished on Friday night in the Rush's 2-1 shootout win in Denver against the Cutthroats.
The Rush tie the record for consecutive road wins joining four other squads with that number. The most recent was in the 2001-02 season when the Odessa Jackalopes won 10 straight road contests. Also equaling that streak were the 1997-98 Columbus Cottonmouths, the 1997-98 Nashville Ice Flyers and the 1996-97 Fort Worth Fire.
Earlier this season, the Rush tied the CHL record for consecutive wins to start a season when they won 10 consecutive games. Their 19-3-0 record overall reflects the most wins through 22 games since the CHL merged with the Western Professional Hockey League in 2001.
The Cutthroats scored first on Friday night but Konrad Reeder's 17th goal of the season in the second period tied the game and Eric Giosa's shootout goal (his ninth strike of the season) won the game for the Rush. Tim Boron made 27 saves improving to 16-3-0 on the season.
Rapid City and Denver meet again on Saturday night with the Rush one win away from 11 straight road wins and sole possession of the record.
