Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Americans briefly left the friendly confines of the Allen Event Center on Saturday evening as they visited the Tulsa Oilers at the BOK Center. It took seven rounds in the shootout for the Oilers to beat the Americans, 3-2.

When watching the first period, it seemed as if these teams still had a distinct distaste for each other. Two fights between the clubs contributed to 26 first period penalty minutes. Reid Halabi and Vincent Arseneau squared off with Mathieu Gagnon and Justin Mansfield, respectively. Halabi would go at it for a second round with Gagnon within the first minute of the second period.

Instead of strictly trading punches in the second period, the Americans and Oilers traded goals as well. Finally getting the zeros off of the scoreboard were Tulsa's Phil Brewer, his 21st, and Allen's Chad Costello, his 23rd. Costello's game tying goal came less than a minute after Brewer opened the scoring.

Allen had a total of three goals waved off, from reasons ranging from goaltender interference to high sticking. However, Tristan King was able to score a go ahead goal in the third period within full legality. Adam Pleskach would keep Tulsa in the game with his 19th goal of the season, the second Power Play goal for the Oilers.

With a tied score, nothing was settled in the overtime period despite Power Play chances for both teams.

Similar to Allen's previous game against Alaska, the shootout went into extra shooters. Tulsa's Ben Walker scored the game winner in the seventh round.

James Murray made his second consecutive start after the shootout loss in Allen last evening to Alaska. Similar to that night, and his professional debut, Murray was outstanding for Allen, stopping 39 of 41 Oilers shots.

The Americans return home to the Allen Event Center on Sunday, the 19th, where the Tulsa Oilers will battle once again. The game begins at 4:05 pm.
