Wichita Thunder News Release

Wichita, KS - Logan Nelson had a goal and an assist, but Missouri (48-10-3-2) came from behind to knock off Wichita (16-36-6-6) by the final of 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at INTRUST Bank Arena.

Michael Neal scored the other Thunder goal in the losing effort.

After a scoreless first period, the two teams combined for four in the second. Neal recorded the game's first goal with 12 minutes left in the frame. He skated away from two defenders in the neutral zone, had his initial shot stopped, but the momentum of Steven Summerhays carried him over the line to make it 1-0. The official spoke to the goal judge and deemed that the goal was good. Missouri answered just 49 seconds later when Josh Holmstrom tipped home a shot from Bryce Aneloski to tie it at one. Logan Nelson blasted a power play goal through Summerhays at 13:51 and a 2-1 lead. The Mavericks answered with a goal from Darian Dziurzynski with just over two minutes left in the second and sent the game into the third tied at two.

Reed Seckel gave Missouri their first lead of the contest at 2:25 of the third period after re-directing a pass from Chris Owens through Sean Bonar for a 3-2 lead. His goal would hold up as Summerhays stopped all 16 shots he faced in the third, including a late one-time blast from Nelson from the left circle.

Head Coach Kevin McClelland coached his 400th game behind the Thunder bench tonight. Koules notched an assist to extend his point-streak to six games (3g, 6a). Kerbashian netted an assist, giving him three helpers in the last three games. Nelson recorded his fifth multi-point outing of the season. Bonar suffers the loss, stopping 35 of 38 shots. Summerhays earns the win, stopping 28 of 30 shots he faced.

Wichita was 1-for-2 on the man advantage. Missouri went 0-for-5 on the power play.

Wichita has the week off before resuming action next Saturday against Quad City at 7:05 p.m.
