Utah Grizzlies News Release
Loveland, Colorado - Ryan Hayes scored with 3.3 seconds left in overtime to lift the Utah Grizzlies (34-25-3-2) 2-1 over the Colorado Eagles (33-26-3-1) Saturday night in Loveland."It was a crazy little battle in front there and we found the back of the net, it was awesome," said Hayes. "I was a little bit tired, so I can't say I was in the best position there, but I got a bounce and put it in."
Grizzlies goaltender Ryan Faragher stopped 39 of 40 in the contest to improve to 22-12-2-1. The Grizzlies goaltender stopped 17 of 17 in the first period and 16 of 17 in the third to give the Grizzlies a chance to win.
"Faragher played amazing tonight and helped us out," said Hayes. "They're a great team at home and we came in here and took two points; so it's awesome for us."
Utah broke the tie after killing four-straight shorthanded situations to start the contest with a goal from Bryan Moore with 8:43 left in the second period. Alex Krushelnyski broke up ice, was denied on a shot, but followed the rebound and found Moore cross ice in the right circle for the goal.
"This was a must win for our team right now and we need to build on this going home, we have three big games coming up," said Hayes.
Colorado tied the contest with 6:46 left in regulation on their 36th shot of the night.
Utah outshot Colorado 5-1 in overtime and had a series of chances late; first with Matt Berry and Alex Krushelnyski, then
Bryan Moore and Ryan Hayes just kept hacking after a rush up ice before the Grizzlies got the game-winner.
