ALLEN, Texas - The Allen Americans lost their first playoff game in franchise history tonight after giving up two late goals in the third period. The club is down 1-0 in the Conference Semifinals of the 2010 Ray Miron President's Cup Playoffs.

Forward Liam Huculak scored Allen's first playoff goal 4:34 into the game to give Allen their first lead of the game. Five minutes later, Bucks' defenseman Mike Looby tied the game. With 42.5 seconds before the first intermission, an open Darryl Smith flipped the puck top shelf over Chris Whitley to give Laredo a 2-1 advantage.

Allen started the second with back-to-back goals to take a 3-2 lead. Rookie Tobias Whelan scored his first playoff goal at 5:31 when he beat Laredo netminder Pier-Olivier Pelletier to a puck in between the circles. The forward poked the puck into the empty net as he collided with Pelletier. Exactly one minute later, Bruce Graham rushed into Laredo's zone and drove to the net. His shot was turned aside, but defenseman Erik Adams finished the offensive effort and put the biscuit in the basket. The Americans headed into the third with a 3-2 advantage.

Laredo scored two straight goals in the final period that clinched their first 2010 playoff win. Looby tallied his second of the evening at 2:46, and Neil Trimm scored at 9:10. Trimm's goal was enough for the win as Allen could not find the back of the net in the remaining 10:50. With a little over one minute to go, the Americans put on the extra attacker and swarmed the net. The club registered 12 shots on goal, but Pelletier stopped all of them.

Whitley made 28 saves tonight, while Pelletier stopped 33 pucks.

All three home teams in the Central Hockey League lost their playoff contests tonight. Odessa is down 1-0 to Texas, while Colorado is behind 1-0 to Bossier-Shreveport.

The Americans continue their best-of-seven series with Laredo tomorrow night at the Allen Event Center at 7: 30 p.m. The first 1,500 fans will receive foam fingers courtesy of Courtyard Marriott. Tickets are available by calling 972-912-1000.
