Tri-City Americans News Release

The Tri-City Americans picked up a 6-3 victory over the Chiefs last night in Spokane.

After missing six games due to an upper body injury, Jake Sloan opened scoring just 56 seconds into his first game back as he scored backdoor on Chiefs goaltender Mason Beaupit. Sasha Mutala and Alex Serraglio received assists on the play.

Yannick Proske replied midway through the period with a power play goal to tie the game for the Chiefs.

Tri-City put themselves back in front with their own power play goal from Parker Bell. The 2022 NHL Draft prospect scored with a strong individual effort as he skated past Spokane's defense and scored over the right glove of Beaupit with a shot from the low slot.

The back-and-forth scoring continued as Spokane's Chase Bertholet added a third straight power play goal with 1:23 remaining in the period.

Shots were an even 10-10 through the first period.

Sasha Mutala gave the Americans their final lead 6:51 into the next period as he cleaned up a loose puck in front of the net after a shot from Ethan Ernst. Sam Huo also received an assist on the goal.

The score held at 3-2 until the Americans extended their lead late in the period with a goal from Tanner Gould. The 2005-born forward picked up a rebound at the left circle and scored the eventual game-winner with a wrist shot. It was Gould's second career goal after netting his first in Tri-City on Friday. After missing a length amount of time due to injury, Gould has two goals and four assists through 20 games played.

Proske added Spokane's final of the night with a minute remaining in the second period for his second goal of the evening. All three of Spokane's goals came on the power play as they went 3/7 with a man-advantage.

Mutala scored his second goal of the night midway through the final period. He showed off his skating ability as he carried the puck through the neutral zone and skated around the Chiefs defensemen and tucked the puck past the right pad of Beaupit.

Bell added the empty net dagger to secure the 6-3 victory for Tri-City. Both Mutala and Bell finished the night with two goals and an assist.

Tomas Suchanek played the full game in net for the Americans, turning aside 24 of 27 shots faced.
