
Americans' Big 3rd Leads to 6-3 Win

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans took on the Arizona Sundogs on Friday night at the Allen Event Center. The Americans, donning 1980's USA sweaters, scored three power play goals on their way to a 6-3 win over the Sundogs on Friday night in Allen.
Arizona opened up the scoring at the 14:54 mark of the first when Johan Ryd found the back of the net, unassisted. The Sundogs took a quick 2-0 lead three minutes later at the 17:53 mark, when Shawn Limpright slid the puck past Americans goalie, Bryan Pitton. The goal, his first of the season, was assisted by Jason Morgan and Kevin Baker. Allen headed into the first intermission trailing Arizona 2-0 and 14-10 in shots.
Jonathon Zion lit the lamp 43 seconds into the second period to cut Arizona's lead in half. The goal, a power play goal, was assisted by Bruce Graham and Jonathan Lessard. Allen evened the score 2-2 when Daniel Tetrault fired one home for the sixth time this season at the 14:50 mark of the frame. The goal, another power play goal, was assisted by Tyler Ludwig and Jamie Schaafsma.
The Sundogs took a 3-2 lead only 42 seconds into the third period, when Jason Morgan netted the puck, assisted by Shawn Limpright.
Allen took over the scoring for the remainder of the frame, scoring four more, starting with another power play goal. Ross Rouleau netted his fourth of the season, his 100th career point, with the assists going to Jonathan Lessard and Spencer Asuchak. The goal, the third power play goal of the game, tied the game 3-3. Jamie Schaafsma slid the puck past Sundogs goalie Andrew Engelage, assisted by Mike Berube and Ross Rouleau, giving Allen a 4-3 lead. Brian McMillin found the back of an empty net, assisted by Bruce Graham and Spencer Asuchak to take a 5-3 lead. Allen solidified a 6-3 win when Garrett Klotz scored on an empty net, assisted by Jamie Schaafsma.
With the win, Allen improves to 30-18-3 on the season and Arizona falls to 24-23-6. The Americans will face the Sundogs again on Saturday night at the Allen Event Center at 7:05 pm.
