Frisco RoughRiders News Release
AMARILLO, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders scored two runs in the top of the 10th on Friday night from HODGETOWN, but the Amarillo Sod Poodles came back with three runs in the bottom of the 10th to win 11-10 in walk-off fashion. Jorge Barrosa ended the night with a two-run walk-off home run.
Tied at 8-8 going into extra innings, the RoughRiders (28-27) jumped out in front with a pair of runs in the 10th. Jax Biggers plated the first run for Frisco with an infield RBI single to first before Jonathan Ornelas lifted a sacrifice fly to right to make it 10-8.
In the bottom of the 10th, Drew Stankiewicz lined an RBI double to left for Amarillo (27-28) to make it a 10-9 contest, bringing Barrosa up, who deposited a 2-2 pitch from Nick Starr (1-1) onto the berm in right field for a two-run walk-off blast. It was the second time the Riders were walked off on the road trip and the third time this season.
Despite allowing the two runs in the top of the 10th, Blake Rogers (2-0) earned the win for Amarillo, throwing the final two innings.
The wild night started in the bottom of the second when the Sod Poodles scored first on an RBI groundout from Lyle Lin against Riders starter Avery Weems. Weems went 4.1 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits while striking out six and walking one.
In the top of the third, Frisco struck back with a solo home run from Biggers to make it 1-1. It was Biggers' first home run of the season for Frisco after joining the club in Wichita last week.
Trey Hair then added his name to the RoughRiders history books in the fourth, crushing a three-run home run to give Frisco a 4-1 advantage. His 10th homer of the season made him the fifth player in franchise history to hit a long ball in four-straight games, and the first one since 2014. No one has homered in five-straight games in a Riders uniform.
Amarillo scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 4-4. Leandro Cedeno ripped a two-run double before Ti'Quan Forbes laced an RBI single to knot the game.
In the top of the seventh, Kellen Strahm hammered his second homer of the season, a solo shot to right, to make it 5-4 but Amarillo volleyed right back with four runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. The game was tied on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch of Elvis Peralta before Barrosa scored on a wild pitch. Roby Enriquez then followed by ramming a two-run single to right to make it 8-5.
The top of the eighth then brought in three for Frisco to tie the game again. Dustin Harris scored on a balk and Sandro Fabian came in an RBI groundout from Biggers before Strahm raced home on a wild pitch to even the score at 8-8. That score remained until extra innings.
The Riders and Sod Poodles meet again for the fifth game of the series at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, June 11th from HODGETOWN. LHP Cody Bradford (3-3, 7.82) goes for the RoughRiders against RHP Brandon Pfaadt (3-3, 3.86).
Frisco returns to Riders Field on Tuesday, June 14th, to begin a six-game series against the Midland RockHounds. For tickets and more information about the Frisco RoughRiders, visit RidersBaseball.com or call 972.731.9200.
