Portland Winterhawks News Release
The Portland Winterhawks alumni continued their strong performances playing at the U SPORTS level. With the regular season winding down in the next two weeks, we wanted to check out how some familiar faces are doing north of the border.
Through January 31, 2020, Jack Flaman leads all alumni with ten goals for Acadia University. Second year forward Colton Veloso recorded a goal in four straight games this month with the University of Manitoba Bisons. Speaking of scoring, three Hawks alumni scored their first goals in the U SPORTS rank.
Last year's alternate captain Jared Freadrich netted his first collegiate goal earlier this month on January 10 when the University of Alberta Golden Bears beat Mount Royal University Cougars 8-2. Brett Clayton, a veteran of over 200 WHL games, scored his first goal while paying in just his second game for the University of British Columbia. Rounding out the bunch of firsts, Conor MacEachern found the back of the net on November 2, 2019.
Three Winterhawks are also a part of Alberta's Canada West-leading club that boasts a 20-5-0 record.
