It didn't take long for the ICE to get on the board, Michal Teply scored his 20th of the season on a great play from behind the net off the stick of Peyton Krebs to give the ICE a 1-0 lead. Just over 10 minutes later, Red Deer struck for their first as Jace Isley capitalized on an ICE turnover to even this one up heading into the first intermission.
It was the ICE scoring right off the bat in the second. Isaac Johnson scored on a pass from Peyton Krebs to give the ICE a 2-1 lead. The Rebels answered right back as Isley recorded his second of the evening. Two minutes after that, Ben King scored for the Rebels to take a 3-2 lead and they would hang on to that lead heading into the third period.
The ICE would come out flying in the third taking a 4-3 lead off goals from Pederson and Leppard just under five minutes into the period. Red Deer however answered right back with three unanswered goals to take a 6-4 lead. Barteaux would answer for the ICE with just over two minutes to go but ultimately the ICE would fall short by a score fo 6-5.
