Montreal Alouettes News Release
Montreal, Mar. 10, 2005 - For a ninth consecutive season, the Alouettes will be participating in the St. Patrick's Day Parade this Sunday as of noon.
This year, two all-utility Swiss-Austrian Pinzgauer trucks will transport players, cheerleaders and Alouette mascot Touché down the parade route. Among the players who will participate in the event are 2004 CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player Anwar Stewart, linebackers Kevin Johnson and Michael Botterill, offensive lineman Luke Fritz and receiver Dave Stala. The cheerleaders on site will be Amanda, Line, Joani, Shana, Geneviève and Roxane.
"This is a great opportunity for us to be part of the festivities while getting involved in our community," said Alouettes' President and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Larry Smith.
The starting time of the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade is scheduled for noon on Sunday, Mar. 13. Montreal will be celebrating its Irish roots and the coming of spring for a 181st year. From its humble beginnings to today, where this event is a "must see" for over 600,000 spectators, the parade has become an entertaining event for the entire family. Colourful floats, mascots, bands, and more span the entire length of the parade. The theme for this edition is "Céad MÃle Fâilte - A Hundred Thousand Welcomes"
