Ottawa Renegades News Release
OTTAWA â The Ottawa Renegades Football Club will, for the second consecutive year, be well represented at the 14th annual Breakfast of Champions fundraising event, which raises funds for the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Renegades head coach and general manager Joe Paopao -- along with a number of the members of the team's coaching staff, as well as at least four players and front office personnel â will be on hand for the breakfast, being held at the Westin Hotel in downtown Ottawa Friday morning. The event, which will feature Angelo Mosca as a keynote speaker, begins at 7:30 a.m.
Ottawa players expected to be on hand are receivers Pat Woodcock and Darryl Ray, defensive lineman Marc Pilon and linebacker Jason Kralt. Members of the Molson Canadian Light Ottawa Renegades Dance Team will also be present, as will Ruffy, the team's mascot.
The Renegades coaches and players will be among the sports celebrities and media personalities on hand for the Breakfast of Champions, which features Lianne Laing and Ken Evraire from The New RO television station as co-Master of Ceremonies.
It has been a busy time in the community for the Renegades. In addition to the Breakfast of Champions, Woodcock will be helping with the CHEO Hospital Radiothon, while five players (Woodcock, Pilon, Kralt, David Azzi and Donnie Ruiz) took part in a youth summit to encourage teens against smoking last week. Thirty different schools in the Ottawa area each sent two students and a teacher to the event, which included the players having lunch with the group at the Sandy Hill Community Centre.
