Gino DiVincentis joins Stamps coaching staff

(Calgary) – The Calgary Stampeder Football Club today named Gino DiVincentis as Quality Control Coach. For the past 14 seasons Gino has been a major contributor to football in Calgary at St. Francis High School, widely recognized as one of the most successful high school programs in Canada. As the Brown's Head Coach for the last two years, Gino led the team to both the city and provincial championships following two undefeated regular seasons.

"The hiring of Gino is a great opportunity for the Calgary Stampeder Football Club to connect with a member of the Calgary football community," stated Senior Vice-President of Football Operations/Head Coach Tom Higgins. "With all of his football experience Gino will be of great help to the organization both on and off the field."

"Over the past 16 years Gino has made an outstanding contribution to the Calgary football community," added Senior Consultant to the Executive Committee Stan Schwartz. "He has certainly earned the opportunity to work at the professional level."

"I feel very privileged to have this opportunity to work at the professional level," said Quality Control Coach Gino DiVincentis. "I've been very blessed to be involved with such a great program at St. Francis which involved top quality individuals from top to bottom. Quality Control Coach

Gino enters his first season with the Calgary Stampeders. Over 14 years with St. Francis has been in the city finals every season. In the past two seasons Gino has taken over as head coach, leading the team to two straight undefeated seasons. In 2003 the team went 11-0, while this past season they finished the year with a 10-0 record. In both seasons St. Francis went on to win a city and provincial championship. Gino was recognized for his accomplishments after the 2003 season, being named the Frank Morris Tier I High School Football Coach of the Year. This past season St. Francis High School was also recognized by NFL/CFL Futures as the number one ranked High School in Canada.

Previous to the 2003 season Gino spent 12 seasons as defensive coordinator at St. Francis. During these years St. Francis led the league in fewest points against in 11 of the 12 seasons. Before joining St. Francis Gino was a receiver coach at St. Mary's High School in Calgary, AB. His first coaching job came in 1987, where he coached receivers at Michael A Riffel High School in Regina, SK.

Gino graduated from the University of Regina with a Bachelor of Education and also received a Master of Arts Degree at Maryvale Institute in Birmingham, England. He is married to his wife Sherri who works at Tourism Calgary. Gino has been employed by the Calgary Catholic School Board since 1988 and will continue to do so while working with the Stampeders.
