Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release

DAYTON, OH - The Bowling Green Hot Rods closed out their longest road trip of the season with a series win, defeating the Dayton Dragons by a score of 5-2. The Hot Rods finished the 10-game trip with a 5-5 record.

The Dragons got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning. A one out walk led to a two-run home run from LF Reshard Munroe. It was Dayton's first hit of the evening, and it gave them a 2-0 lead.

Bowling Green responded in the top of the fourth when C Ronaldo Hernandez doubled to left field and scored two batters later on DH Trey Hair's triple to straightaway center field. It was 2-1 Dayton.

The Hot Rods took the lead in the top of the fifth, and everything happened with two outs. SS Taylor Walls reached on a bunt single, and reached second on an error. He then stole third. LF Moises Gomez then walked, and 2B Jim Haley then hit a broken bat grounder to the left side that allowed Walls to score and everyone was safe. Hernandez then followed with a line drive home run to left field, a three-run shot, to make it 5-2 Hot Rods.

RHP Tyler Day allowed one hit in two and two-thirds innings of relief, and RHP Matt Seelinger locked down the ninth inning for his first Hot Rods save.

RHP Tommy Romero (10-4, 3.03) earned the win. He threw five and one-third innings, allowing three hits and two runs, walking three and striking out five.

Bowling Green returns home and opens up a seven game homestand with the first of three against the Lansing Lugnuts tomorrow night. First pitch from Bowling Green Ballpark is set for 6:35pm. Neither team has announced a starter.
