Donato Named Midwest League Pitcher of the Week

Davenport, Iowa - Quad Cities River Bandits pitcher Chad Donato has been named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for the week of August 13-August 19. He is the fourth River Bandits pitcher to win a weekly award this season. Patrick Sandoval and Cristian Javier earned the honor in the month of May, Sandoval was honored for a second time in June and Cesar Rosado was chose in July.

Donato made two starts during the week, resulting in 14.0 scoreless innings with 16 strikeouts. He blanked the Cedar Rapids Kernels over 7.0 innings on Monday, limiting them to just two hits and striking out five. He then racked up a career-high 11 strikeouts on Sunday night against Peoria over 7.0 scoreless frames.

For the season, the native of Cypress, Texas is 4-0 with a 2.16 earned run average. He has picked up the win in four consecutive starts. Donato has 56 strikeouts in 50.0 innings of work and has limited the opposition to a .182 batting average against him.

The 23-year old was drafted by the Astros in the 11th round of the 2016 draft. He started the season in Tri-City and was the ValleyCats starter on opening day.
