April 5, 2011 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Philadelphia Union News Release

NEW YORK (April 5, 2011) - Philadelphia Union and Major League Soccer announced today that all spots in Philadelphia have been filled in advance of Sueño MLS 2011, sponsored by Allstate, the premier nationally televised search for the best undiscovered soccer talent in the United States. Sueño MLS 2011 will take place April 23-24 at YSC Sports in Wayne, Pa. For the fifth consecutive year, all nationally offered spots are now booked, and a waiting list has been made available for those players still seeking an opportunity. To register for the waiting list, log on to www.SuenoMLS.com.

Sueño MLS 2011 will be hosted by MLS clubs in three cities, FC Dallas April 9-10, Chicago Fire April 17-18, and Philadelphia Union April 23-24. The competition and personal stories of participants will be chronicled by Univision Network's popular weekly sports show, "República Deportiva" (Sports Republic).

The five best players from Philadelphia will be invited to a week-long trial with the Union's youth development program, in addition to a four-day "Final Event" to be staged in Dallas for the first time. The finals will include training sessions, scrimmages, guest celebrity scouts, and an opportunity to meet some of the League's biggest stars. The ultimate champion will be crowned on Sunday, May 8, live on "República Deportiva" (see calendar below for more information). Please note that no winner is guaranteed an MLS contract.

New to Sueño MLS for 2011 is the Allstate "Good Hands©" top goalkeeper award - El Portero Allstate. One goalkeeper at each of the three local tryouts will be selected as the top goalkeeper, and at least one of the three will be chosen to join the other local finalists at the national final. "El Portero Allstate" will be selected in addition to the Sueño MLS 2011 - presented by Allstate champion.

Sueño's inaugural winner, Jorge Flores, began his quest as a waiting list player and is now a forward for Chivas USA. Since its inception in 2007, Sueño MLS has given thousands of talented young athletes a chance to showcase their skills and impress youth development scouts. The 2008 FC Dallas Sueño MLS winner, Gabriel Funes Mori, played with the FC Dallas Juniors U-18 team before moving on to Argentina's legendary side River Plate, and later starred on the Argentine Under-20 National Team.
