D.C. United Academy Finishes 3-1-4 in Weekend Action

Washington, D.C. (April 5, 2011) - D.C. United's Youth Academy faced two opponents over the past weekend, with the Black-and-Red compiling a 3-1-4 record against FC Westchester and Albertson in U.S. Soccer Development Academy play. The U-14 and U-15 clubs played in New York, while both the U-16 and U-18 sides played at the Maryland SoccerPlex and the University of Maryland's Ludwig Field.

The U-14 squad finished the weekend on a strong note. After a scoreless draw against FC Westchester, the Black-and-Red rallied to win against Albertson. Jimmy Filerman and Evan Kiani each scored a goal in the 2-1 win.

The U-15 side also achieved similar results. On Saturday, April 2, the U-15's drew 2-2 with FC Westchester with goals coming from Bashir Hooper and Sam Daniels. On Sunday, the Black-amd-Red earned a hard-fought win against Albertson, 3-2. Two goals came from Danny Colmenares, and the third strike came from Christyian Najar.

United's U-16's started the weekend with a 1-1 draw against FC Westchester on Saturday, with the lone goal coming from Michael Russo. Dylan Regan provided the assist. On Sunday, April 3, the U-16's faced a strong Albertson team and were defeated 1-0.

The U-18's got off to a great start by winning on Saturday, April 2 against Westchester 2-1. The first goal came in the first half after Brad Vorv was taken down in the box, and the Black-and-Red were awarded a penalty kick. Mikias Eticha converted from the spot. Later in the match, Marcus Salandy-Defour struck the second goal with an assist from Cody Albrecht. On Sunday, April 3, The U-18's played a heated match against Albertson that saw three red cards and a handful of cautions. Eticha was the goal scorer for United in a 1-1 draw.
