Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings of the United Hockey League announce that defenseman Kirill Alexeev has been selected by the Flint Generals as the player to be named later for the trade for Mark Vilneff.

Kalamazoo made the trade for Mark Vilneff last week. In his first three games as a K-Wing, Mark has already added an assist and has a plus/minus ranking of +1. The eight-year pro, also adds playoff experience to the K-Wings locker room, as Vilneff has participated in the playoffs in each of his eight seasons.

Alexeev only played in nine games for the K-Wings, and has missed the last eight games due to a hand injury. In his nine games, Alexeev had tallied just two points, 6 minutes in penalties, and has a plus/minus ranking of –2.

In a separate roster move, the K-Wings also announce they have also released defenseman Liam McCarthy. Liam signed a 14-day PTO with the K-Wings last week. McCarthy played in one game with Kalamazoo.

For more information about the completion of the Vilneff trade or McCarthy being released, contact Mike Modugno, Director of Public Relations and Broadcaster at (269) 349-9772, extension 220.
