FARGO, N.D. -- For the second straight night, the first three Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (33-50) to the plate scored as the home team complete a four-game sweep with a 3-2 victory over the Saltdogs (30-53) in front of 3,758 fans at Newman Outdoor Field Thursday night.
Trailing 3-0 after an inning, Mike Gilmartin led off the top of the second with a double. Three batters later, Jeremy Hamilton stroked him home with a triple then scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-2.
Tyler Alexander (3-5) pitched eight innings, allowing two runs while fanning eight and walking one to earn the win. Kevin McGovern (4-8) went seven, allowing three runs while striking out six and walking two to suffer the loss.
The Saltdogs have now dropped five straight and are just 11-34 all time in North Dakota.
Hamilton's second-inning triple extended his hit streak to five games.
Former Huskers hurler Mike Nesseth worked another perfect ninth to book his 14th save.
The 'Dogs return home Friday night to host the Sioux City Explorers at 7:05 p.m. with a post-game fireworks show. RHP Casey Collins is expected to face RHP Eric Wordekemper. Radio coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on KFOR FM 103.3/1240 AM.
