Alan Williams Assigned to Northern Arizona Suns

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Phoenix Suns announced Thursday that forward/center Alan Williams has been assigned to the Northern Arizona Suns.

This marks Williams' second career assignment to the NAZ Suns. He played one game for them last year, where he posted 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting and nine rebounds against the Santa Cruz Warriors.

Williams underwent a meniscus repair of his right knee on Sept. 25, so he has yet to play in a game with the Phoenix Suns this season.

Williams (6-8, 265) was the 2016-17 Majerle Hustle Award winner, averaging 11.4 points on 51.4 percent shooting and 9.1 rebounds in 24 games after the All-Star break. He led the Suns with 15 double-doubles overall and ranked third in the NBA with 15 double-doubles off the bench. Playing in his second NBA season, "Big Sauce" averaged career-bests of 7.4 points and 6.2 rebounds in 47 total games.

The 24-year-old has averaged 6.6 points and 5.8 rebounds in 57 career NBA games, all with Phoenix. Williams, a University of California- Santa Barbara alum, is from Phoenix initially. He attended North High School.

Williams is the third Phoenix Suns player to be assigned to NAZ this season. Davon Reed and former Phoenix Suns forward Derrick Jones Jr. also had assignments with the team's NBA G League affiliate.

The Northern Arizona Suns next play Friday at the Prescott Valley Event Center against the NBA G League defending champions, the Raptors 905, at 7 p.m. PT.
