The Reading Fightin Phils were shut out by the Akron RubberDucks on Thursday night.

Reading notched five hits as Jhailyn Ortiz, Bryson Stott, Oscar Gonzalez, and Luke Miller all recorded singles. Gonzalez's hit was his first in Double-A. Chris Cornelius recorded his second double of the season.

Akron scored early and often plating five runs in the top of the third. Steven Kwan's two-RBI single and Andruw Monasterio sent a three-run bomb out to left field.

Then, in the fifth the RubberDucks added four more with home runs from Marcos Gonzalez and Jose Fermin.

A solo shot in both the sixth and the seventh from Akron thanks to Brayan Rocchio and Jonathan Englemann respectively. That was the fifth homer of the night for the RubberDucks and put them in the lead 11-0.

Akron added another run in the eighth as Kwan and Monasterio hit back to back doubles making it 12-0.

Jack Perkins(L, 3-2) got the start throwing 2.2 innings, allowing four hits and five earned runs. Zach Warren threw an inning and a third allowing a hit and recording one strikeout. Seranthony Dominguez came out for an MLB rehab appearance. He allowed three runs on four hits, including back-to-back homers. Carlo Reyes got the final out in the fifth and then threw for three total innings. He let up five hits including two solo shots. Kyle Dohy induced a ground ball to finish the eighth. Dohy returned in the ninth for a 1-2-3 frame.
