Aittokallio's First Shutout Completes Season Sweep of Milwaukee

Rookie goalie Sami Aittokallio's first professional shutout secured a 1-0 victory for the Lake Erie Monsters (29-28-3-7) over the Milwaukee Admirals (32-25-4-3) Wednesday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. Paul Carey scored the only goal for the Monsters, who completed a four-game season sweep of the Admirals with the win. The game marked the beginning of a five-game road swing for the Monsters.

The Monsters led 1-0 after the first period, with the only goal of the frame - and the game - coming off a Luke Walker shot from the top of the left circle that was tipped by Paul Carey for his 15th goal of the season at the 7:10 mark.

The one-goal lead held up through the first two periods, as Aittokallio stopped 17 of 17 Milwaukee shots through the first 40 minutesw.

Aittokallio remained perfect, stopping 16 of 16 shots in a third period that saw Milwaukee put forth a fierce attack, and preserved the Monsters 1-0 victory. The shutout was Aittokallio's first professionally.

Aittokallio stopped 33 of 33 shots and is 13-10-1 on the campaign. Magnus Hellberg is 14-10-0 in net for Milwaukee after the loss; he stopped 18 of 19 shots.

Lake Erie's five-game road trip will continue this weekend with stops in Chicago on Friday and Peoria on Saturday.

NOTES: The Monsters were 4-4 on the penalty kill and are now 9-9 on the penalty kill over their last two games... The Monsters outscored Milwaukee 13-3 in four meetings this season; all Monsters regulation victories... After going 0-5 on the power play, the Monsters are 19-74 on the power play over their last 18 games... Andrew Agozzino's five-game point streak comes to a close; he had two goals and three assists over the previous five games... Luke Walker's assist gives him three points on a goal and two assists over his last two games.
