AirHogs Swept by Saints in Twinbill, Firth Takes Mound

GRAND PRAIRIE -- The St. Paul Saints swept a doubleheader vs. the Texas AirHogs at AirHogs Stadium Tuesday by finals of 5-0 and 4-0. The teams meet again tomorrow at 7:05 pm.

RHP Tyler Bremer got the start for the AirHogs in Game 1. The righty went 4 â..." innings, giving up 5 hits and 4 runs (4 earned) while walking 3 and striking out 3. The Saints got to him for an early tally in the 1st, with Danny Oh scoring on a double steal.

Tony Thomas tagged Bremer for a home run in the 4th before doubling in 3 runs with Jacob Morris on the mound in the 5th.

Ryan Zimmerman went the distance for the Saints, holding the AirHogs to 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 4 in a 7-inning complete game. Alvaro Rondon finished 2 for 3 in his 1st contest since May 31st in Lincoln.

Carlos Contreras started for the AirHogs in the evening's 2nd contest. The righty surrendered just 3 hits while pitching into the 6th but passed out 5 walks to help the Saints score 4 runs (2 earned). St. Paul capitalized on 2 AirHogs errors in the 1st for 2 runs and added 2 more in the 6th when Billy Waltrip inherited multiple baserunners from Contreras. Texas committed a season-high 4 errors in the game.

Jason Creasy went 6 innings for the Saints, holding the AirHogs to just 2 hits before Connor Little finished the game. Alvaro Rondon and Ryne Willard had the only hits of the contest for the home team. Breland Almadova finished 2 for 4 with a run scored, an RBI and 2 extra base hits for the Saints.

The AirHogs and Saints close the series tomorrow. RHP Scott Firth (1-2, 1.65 ERA) is expected to start for Texas vs. RHP Mark Hamburger (2-1, 3.37 ERA) for St. Paul. 1st pitch is slated for 7:05 pm.
