RailCats Sign Dattolo to First Pro Contract

GARY, Ind. - The Gary SouthShore RailCats announced the signing of pitcher Ottavio Dattolo on Wednesday afternoon. Dattolo replaces pitcher Tyler Harris on the RailCats 23-man active roster.
Dattolo recently finished his senior season at Butler University with a perfect 4-0 record and 1.55 ERA in 29 innings pitched. Dattolo held opponents to a .223 batting average and finished second on the team with four saves this season. Dattolo struck out nine batters in 10.1 innings as a junior for the Bulldogs in 2016. Prior to attending Butler, Dattolo spent the 2014 and 2015 seasons at Elgin Community College in Elgin, Ill.
Harris went 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in five games (four starts) for the RailCats. In 14 innings, Harris struck out nine hitters and walked just four. Harris earned a hold in his season debut on May 22nd against the Kansas City T-Bones with a scoreless inning of relief and tossed five shutout innings in his first start of the season on May 24th against Kansas City.
The RailCats resume their seven-game homestand and four-game series against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on Wednesday at 7:10 p.m. Southpaw Braulio Torres-Perez (1-0, 6.27) makes his first home start of the year against RedHawks right-hander Dylan Mouzakes (2-1, 4.29).
