AirHogs Hurl Three-Hit Gem, Win 6-1

Grand Prairie, TX (08.05.08) - Four Grand Prairie AirHogs pitchers combined to hurl a three-hit gem, as they completed the sweep of the Pensacola Pelicans 6-1 on Tuesday evening.

Matt Righter (2-1) earned the win pitching 5.2 innings with two hits, one run, two walks, and four strikeouts. Chris Homer, Steve MacFarland, and James Morrison combined to throw 3.1 innings of one-hit scoreless relief.

Grand Prairie got on board early in the bottom of the first. David Espinosa blasted a solo homer to right giving G.P. the 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, the AirHogs were able to pull ahead of the Pelicans. J.B. Tucker came up with an RBI single to bring in Derek Nicholson, while Brandon Carter also grabbed a RBI single setting the score at 3-0.

Pensacola finally answered in the top of the six. They broke up a Matt Righter no-hitter with a lead-off double. Matt Pali earned the RBI single to center bringing home Dallas Christison to cut their deficit to 3-1.

The AirHogs stayed hot in the bottom of the sixth. Mike Conroy blasted an RBI triple to right-center. Carter then came up with his second RBI single of the night to bring in Conroy. Drew Holder got the RBI fielder's choice to put Grand Prairie ahead 6-1.

Clegg Snipes (7-5) earned the loss pitching 5.0 innings with eight hits, six runs, four walks, and three strikeouts.

Grand Prairie will head west to take on the El Paso Diablos on Thursday, August 7 in a doubleheader scheduled to start at 7:05p.m.
