Aidan McCarthy and Ryan Beck Selected to BioSteel All American Game
December 27, 2019 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
Two Fighting Saints were selected for the BioSteel All American game in Plymouth, Michigan on January 20th. Aidan McCarthy and Ryan Beck will both take part in the mid-season showcase, which will be held in Plymouth for the first time ever. The event is a combination of two previous events, the All-American Game and the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. The event aims to be a showcase of the best NHL-Draft eligible players currently playing in the United States.
"It isn't surprising that both Beck and McCarthy have been selected to the 2020 All-American Game," said head coach Oliver David. "Both have climbed the ranks through USA Hockey via Michigan hockey, and both have started their first USHL season very well with us in Dubuque. It will be fun to watch them represent themselves and our club in the game."
Both McCarthy and Beck have been huge pieces to the Fighting Saints success early in the 2019-20 season. McCarthy, currently the Saints first-string goalie with Erik Portillo at the World Juniors, has compiled a 6-1 record in seven starts. He has a 1.85 GAA and a .925 save percentage. McCarthy also possesses the lone shutout by a Fighting Saints goalie this season.
Beck, after a slow start, has turned things on in the late stages of November through mid-December. The Denver University commit has nine points in 18 games. He has eight of those nine points in the last six games, dating back to November 16th.
Beck and McCarthy will join a squad of players compiled of the best American-born draft eligible talent this season in the USHL. That team will take on the NTDP U-18 squad in the game.
Last season Dubuque had representation in both the USA Hockey All-American Game and the USHL/NHL Top Prospect Game. Braden Doyle and Ryder Donovan took part in the All-American Game, while Michael Feenstra, Ty and Dylan Jackson and Matias Maccelli represented Dubuque in the USHL/NHL Top Prospects game.
This year's event will be held on Monday, January 20th at the USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan.
