Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI - It was déjà vu all over again for the Milwaukee Admirals. For the second straight season the Ads were shut out in front of their Country Music night crowd, a crowd that is usually the biggest of the season. Last year it was a 2-0 loss to the Philadelphia Phantoms in front of over 11,000 fans, Saturday night it was a 3-0 loss to the Houston Aeros in front of 15,758 fans.

The Admirals came out of the blocks quickly and dominated play in the first period, sending 17 shots on goal, but they were unable to get one by Houston goaltender Josh Harding. The Aeros seemed to get a boost of momentum late in the first period when they killed off 1:40 of a five-on-three Milwaukee power play.

The Aeros got on the board in the second period when Roman Voloshenko notched a power play goal. With Scottie Upshall in the box for goaltender interference Houston sent a flurry of close shots on Ads goalie Pekka Rinne. The rookie goaltender made all of those stops, but the Admirals were unable to clear the zone and Erik Westrum sent a pass from the point to Voloskehnko on the far post and he tipped it in.

Patrick O'Sullivan added two insurance goals for the Aeros in the third period, both on assist by Kirby Law.

The crowd, which was entertained by country music sensation Sugarland in a pre-game concert, was the largest crowd to see an Admirals game since January 31, 1998. The crowd would have been the biggest in the AHL this season, but the Chicago Wolves drew over 16,000 in their win over the Cleveland Barons on Saturday.

The Admirals and Aeros play for the second consecutive day tomorrow at 2:00 pm at the Bradley Center. For tickets fans can call Ticketmaster at (414) 276-4545 or log on to www.ticketmaster.com.
