Aeros Stat of the Night:

. Outfielder Lucas Montero will become the 49th different player to appear for the Akron Aeros this season when he starts tonight, surpassing the entire 2009 total of 47.

Aerodynamics.

. Rain, Rain, Go Away. Rain suspended Wednesday night's game between the Aeros and the Bowie Baysox at Canal Park. A one-hour and 47-minute rain delay began the night before just 15 minutes of playing time and the official suspension announcement arrived at 9:39 p.m. The game stopped with Baysox catcher Steve Lerud at the plate, one out in the top of the second inning and a runner on first base against Akron starter Scott Barnes. The game will continue at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23rd at Prince George's Stadium in Bowie followed by that evening's regularly scheduled series opener in seven innings.

. Clip Show. The Aeros made several roster moves today highlighted by outfielder Matt McBride's promotion to Class AAA Columbus. McBride was batting .285 for Akron this season, leading the team in games played (94), doubles (25), home runs (17), and RBI (64). The 25-year-old Bethlehem, PA native will make his debut for the Clippers tonight at Huntington Park.

. Speed Racer. In a corresponding move, the Aeros received outfielder Lucas Montero from the Class A Kinston Indians to bring the roster back to 23 men. Montero had a .264 batting average in 94 games for Kinston this season, stealing 24 bases in only 29 attempts.. The final Akron roster change of the day was the official announcement of RHP Kerry Wood's rehab assignment.

. Summer Catch. Second baseman Jason Kipnis has been incredibly productive offensively since his promotion from the K-Tribe last month. In fact, he has now reached base in all 21 games at Canal Park since making his debut for the Aeros on June 12th.
