. How Sweep It Is. The Akron Aeros completed their first four-game series sweep of the season Sunday afternoon, routing the visiting Erie SeaWolves by the final score of 11-2 at Canal Park. Erie took a quick two-run lead in the top of the second inning before Akron responded with a single run in the second and then 10 more unanswered runs. The Aeros knocked Wolves starter Thad Weber out of the game with three runs in the sixth thanks to a clutch two-out, two-run single by catcher Damaso Espino. Shortstop Carlos Rivero picked up two of his three RBI with a double to left-center in the seventh and John Drennen made it an 8-2 lead with a run-scoring single. Lonnie Chisenhall singled home another run in the eighth while a two-run double by Beau Mills capped the blowout. Left-handed starter Scott Barnes (5-8) earned the win again and Weber (6-10) took the loss.

. Scotty Does Know. Sunday marked the fourth consecutive quality start for Barnes as he made his team-leading 19th start of the year. The 22-year-old product of St. John's University permitted two runs on three hits and two walks in his six innings pitched, striking out four batters while receiving plenty of run support from his offense. After struggling with a 1-5 record and a 7.45 ERA through May, Barnes has been much improved recently and now is 2-1 with a 2.03 ERA in his four outings in July. He now ranks third in the Indians organization with 85 strikeouts and was acquired via a trade with the San Francisco Giants last July.

. Head Start. Amidst another blowout Sunday against Erie, designated hitter Jerad Head starred for the Aeros offense. He finished 4-for-5 at the plate while tying a 2010 Akron-high with two doubles and setting a new mark with four runs scored. He also drove in a run and increased his season batting average to .297 in 40 games played in Double-A. The Topeka, KS native joined the roster on May 22nd from Class AAA Columbus and he appeared in 98 games for the defending EL Champions last year.

. Sunday Best. Yesterday's victory over the Erie SeaWolves was one of the best all-around performances by Akron in 2010. The team tied a season-high with the nine-run margin of victory while the offense smashed old records with the 19 hits and seven doubles. The white-hot Aeros are now a league-best 11-5 and have out-scored their opponents by 49 runs total in July.

. Monday Madness. Right fielder Shin-Soo Choo joined the Aeros today on a Major League rehab assignment from the Indians. Choo and shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera are both in tonight's starting lineup for Cleveland's Double-A affiliate on an exciting night at Canal Park. It is "Ship out LeBron James" night where fans can make charitable donations of any gently used LeBron apparel in exchange for free tickets to Dollar Dog Monday this evening. The Canal District Union of the United Methodist Church will then take all of tonight's donated apparel on an upcoming mission trip to either the Caribbean or South America.
