Aeros Stat of the Night:

. Akron Aeros relievers allowed five walks and six runs in Thursday's loss. The entire bullpen entered the game with a 3.70 ERA for the season along with a 2.69 ERA in the past 41 contests.

Aerodynamics.

. Manchester Madness. The New Hampshire Fisher Cats took the rubber match of their three game series with the Aeros Thursday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium, striking for five runs in the eighth inning of a 9-6 victory. Catcher Damaso Espino and third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall each blasted two-run homers for Akron in the fifth to help the visitors take a brief 4-2 lead. The Cats scored single runs in the next two innings while the Aeros struck again in the seventh for two more runs on consecutive RBI singles from Matt McBride and John Drennen. New Hampshire then captured the lead for good in the eighth thanks to a game-tying single by Manny Mayorson and a three-run homer from third baseman Shawn Bowman. Connor Graham (2-3) took the loss in relief while Adrian Martin (3-1) earned the win and Tim Collins recorded his third save for the Fisher Cats.

. Kool Kelvin. Akron lefty starter Kelvin De La Cruz struggled again Thursday night in Manchester, allowing the first three runs of the game on five walks and four hits in 4.2 innings pitched. The outing continued a rough past month for the Dominican native in his first extended stint in Double-A this season. De La Cruz now has a 6.91 ERA over his past six starts since May 21st with 21 walks against 17 strikeouts in 27.1 innings. The 22-year-old was named the 10th-best prospect in the Indians organization prior to the 2009 season but pitched in only five games last year because of a ligament injury in his throwing elbow.

. The Natural. The Aeros offense finished with 12 hits Thursday, five more than New Hampshire, and several offensive players had impressive nights in the loss. One of the more notable stars was new Akron center fielder Jordan Henry, who recorded his first two hits since his recent promotion from Class A Kinston along with two walks and a stolen base. Henry turned 22 years old Sunday and was officially promoted Monday after collecting a .333 batting average in 42 games played with the K-Tribe.

. Derby Downs. Espino and Chisenhall each homered Thursday as the Aeros tied their season-high with two home runs on the night. The outing also continued one of the oddest streaks in the Eastern League, as despite 40 total team homers, no single Akron Aero has finishing with a multi-homer contest on the year. It was the ninth time the team finished with exactly two and it was the second homer for Espino along with the sixth in 18 games since returning from the disabled list by Chisenhall.

. Tonight, Tonight. This weeklong road trip continues tonight as the Aeros and the Portland Sea Dogs begin a weekend set at Hadlock Field in Maine. The matchup tonight features two of the top pitching prospects in the Eastern League in Akron's Nick Hagadone and Portland's Casey Kelly. Hagadone entered the season as the third-best prospect in the Cleveland organization according to Baseball America, and the converted shortstop Kelly was tabbed as the second-best in the Boston Red Sox system.
