TONIGHT: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Altoona Curve will meet in the opener of a three-game series...The Binghamton Mets scored the lone run of the game on Thursday night at The Diamond in the top of the first inning and held on for a 1-0, series-clinching win over the Flying Squirrels.

TONIGHT'S STARTERS: Right-hander Daryl Maday gets the start in the opener of the series for the Flying Squirrels...Received a no-decision in his last start at Reading 6/13...Allowed three runs on five hits in 4 2/3 innings...Struck out four batters and walked three...Gave up a leadoff home run to Tagg Bozied in the fourth inning and followed by striking out the side...Gave up two runs with two outs in the bottom of the fifth allowing four consecutive batters to reach base safely...Home run allowed was just his second given up in 74 innings...Threw 89 pitches, 55 strikes...Recorded six fly outs and four ground outs...Retired the leadoff batter in three of his five innings on the mound...Outing was his shortest of the season...Third time in 13 starts that he allowed more than two runs...Has not allowed more than three runs this season...Ranks third in the Eastern League with a 2.02 ERA...Ranks fifth among EL starting pitchers in base runners per nine innings at 10.70 (90/75.2 IP)...Attempting to become the first EL pitcher to nine wins...Is 4-2 with a 1.69 ERA in seven starts at The Diamond.

Right-hander Jared Hughes gets the nod in game one of the series for the Curve...Suffered his third loss of the season in his last start against New Britain 6/12...Allowed six runs on a season-high 12 hits over 4 2/3 innings...Is 1-2 with a 5.61 ERA (16ER/25.2 IP) in five starts since earning his seventh win of the season against Richmond 5/15...Is 3-0 in three games, two starts, against Richmond...Has allowed six runs, five earned on 17 hits in 17 innings against the Flying Squirrels while striking out 13 and walking four...Came on in relief of Ross Ohlendorf and got the win 5/5...Is 5-1 with a 2.91 ERA in eight appearances on the road while going 3-2 with a 6.12 ERA in five starts at home...Appeared in 17 games including seven starts with Altoona in 2009, bouncing back from an early season injury...Went 1-6 with a 3.88 ERA with 36 strike outs and 16 walks in 46 1/3 innings of work...Was 0-2 with a 7.00 ERA in 10 relief appearances...Was 1-4 with a 1.91 ERA in his seven starts...Counting 2010, has spent parts of the last three seasons with Altoona including making six starts in his first stint with the Curve in 2008...Selected by Pittsburgh in the fourth round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft...Attended Cal State Long Beach.

BEHIND THE CURVE: The Flying Squirrels were 22-13 and had a 1 1/2 game lead in the Western Division through the first 15 games; however, the club is 10-22 (.313) over its last 32 games...Only the Erie SeaWolves have fared worse over that span going 9-21 (.300) following their first 15 games...Richmond's staff ERA is 4.78 over its last 32 games, and the club's overall ERA has climbed from 2.58 to 3.64.

SERIE-OUS SKID: Richmond is 1-7-2 over its last 10 series from 5/13-6/17 after dropping two out of three games against Binghamton...The lone series win for the Flying Squirrels came against New Britain 6/8-6/10 when the club took two of three games...Prior to the skid, Richmond had gone 6-1-1 over its previous eight series spanning from 4/15-5/2.

SHUTDOWN: The Flying Squirrels were shutout for the fourth time this season in last night's 1-0 defeat to Binghamton...The club has not scored a run in 13 consecutive innings.

ONE IS THE LONELIEST NUMBER: The Flying Squirrels dropped to 9-12 in one-run games this season with last night's loss against the B-Mets...The club is now 23-23 in games decided by three runs or less.

AMBUSH: First baseman Michael Ambort has a five-game hit streak including multi-hit games in four of those five games...The 25-year-old is 9-for-21 (.429) at the plate over his last five games with two doubles, a home run, six RBI, and five runs scored...He has hits in nine of the 10 games he has played in since coming off of the Disabled List 6/3...Ambort is batting .342 (13-for-38) over that span with three doubles, a home run, nine RBI and nine runs scored...He has also scored at least one run in each of his last seven games.

DOUBLETREE DOWNTOWN DOUBLE PLAYS: The Richmond Flying Squirrels have turned 84 double plays in 67 games including six on 5/7 in Harrisburg...The club leads the Eastern League in double plays turned and has not gone more than two games without turning a double play.

CFS STAT OF THE NIGHT: Last night's spot start for right-hander Felix Romero was the longest outing in his nine-year professional career...The Dominican-born hurler lasted six innings, giving up just one run on six hits with two strike outs and a walk...His previous longest outing was four innings.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Right-hander Felix Romero turns 30 today...He is the oldest member of the Flying Squirrels' roster.
