Aerodynamics.

. Singing in the Rain. The Aeros were victorious by the score of 3-2 Friday over Harrisburg as starter Eric Berger dominated the rain-shortened contest. A 33-minute rain delay pushed back the first pitch time and then a nearly two-hour pause forced the game's official completion after the end of the seventh inning. Berger was perfect through four innings but then permitted the first two runs of the night in the fifth on RBI base hits from Marvin Lowrance and Jhonaton Solano. The Aeros responded against Senators starter Andrew Kown in the top of the seventh as a Beau Mills groundout scored Lonnie Chisenhall for the first run of the night. Shortstop Carlos Rivero then smacked a game-tying run-scoring double to knock Kown out of the game and John Drennen followed with a go-ahead triple to score Rivero. Berger (2-4) earned the win as he delivered a seven-inning complete game with an impressive 10 strikeouts while Kown (1-1) took the loss despite his dominance through the first six innings.

. Wonderful Wildcat. The complete game for the left-handed Berger Friday night at Metro Bank Park was the first by an Akron Aero pitcher this year. He permitted only five hits and one walk overall while his 10 strikeouts were also a 2010 team-high. The last Aero to record 10 K's in a contest was Ryan Edell back on July 11, 2009 at Erie and this was quite the comeback performance by the 24-year-old University of Arizona product. Berger entered the contest yesterday with a 1-4 record and a 7.67 ERA in his first seven starts for Akron on the year after returning from extended spring training on April 26th.

. Drennen Delivers. In a game dominated by heavy rainfall and excellent pitching performances, Drennen's game-winning triple ruined the scene for the host Harrisburg Senators. With one out in the seventh and final inning of the night, Drennen greeted new reliever Hassan Pena with a triple to center to provide for the final margin at 3-2. The game helped the San Diego, CA native as he now leads all active Akron Aeros players in doubles (11), triples (three) and slugging percentage (.459).

. Riveting Rivero. With third baseman Jared Goedert now up in Columbus, the shortstop Rivero may hold the title for the hottest-hitting Akron batter. His double in the seventh last night extended his hitting streak to eight straight contests and it was his third double in as many games. On the season, the 22-year-old now has 16 RBI in 50 at-bats with runners in scoring position.

. Jolly June. This month has been very good to the red-hot Aeros as the team has now won five straight games and each of their four contests in June. The pitching staff has been the main cause for this success as Akron pitchers now have recorded 42 strikeouts against just eight runs on 19 hits and seven walks over the course of the 34 innings pitched in June. The impressive total of strikeouts and walks (6:1 ratio) are season-bests for the Aeros pitching staff in any consecutive four-game stretch all year.
