New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League made two roster transactions today, with each involving a Pitcher.

RHP Deolis Guerra, the 21-year-old Venezuelan whose acquisition was central to the Minnesota Twins' 2008 trade with the New York Mets for LHP Johan Santana, will rejoin the Rock Cats after a three week stint at the Triple-A classification with Rochester of the International League. The 6'5"/225-pound Guerra made four starting appearances for the Red Wings and departs Rochester with a 0-3 record and 6.26 ERA. Prior to his early May promotion, he had made 5 starts for the 2010 Rock Cats, posting a 1-1 record and 3.07 ERA. While with the `Cats, Guerra's 2010 K/BB ratio was a very positive 21/4. In 12 appearances in a New Britain uniform in 2009, Guerra was 6-3.

LHP Joe Testa, the 24-year-old southpaw reliever out of Jackson, NJ, is departing New Britain for Ft. Myers in the Single-A, Florida State League. Minnesota is reassigning the 5'10/167-pound hurler to the Miracle, where he was an outstanding 5-0 with a 1.22 ERA in 2009. His early luck with the Rock Cats was not quite as good - in 21 bullpen appearances for New Britain in 2010, Joe was 1-4 with an 8.25 ERA.

Both moves are effective immediately.
