Fourth Inning Fireworks...The Aeros won for the eighth time in ten tries last night, defeating New Hampshire by the final score of 5-2. A five-run fourth inning provided all the offense Akron needed, as four pitchers combined to hold the hosts to just six hits and a walk, including only one single during the last five frames. The Aeros smacked four of their five hits in the fourth inning and that was plenty for the pitching staff, as rehabbing starter Scott Lewis allowed just a run on two hits over 3.2 innings and Josh Tomlin followed and earned the win in his first relief appearance of the season, holding New Hampshire to a run on three hits in 3.1 innings. Steven Wright and Vinnie Pestano then sealed the deal in the eighth and ninth for the victory, with Pestano earning his Eastern League-leading 17th save of the year.

The Joy of June...RF John Drennen and 1B Beau Mills both extended their hitting streaks last night, as Drennen's seventh-inning single pushed his hitting streak to an Aeros season-high eight games while Mills stayed close behind with a hit for the seventh straight game. Drennen is hitting .346 (18-52) with a team-best 16 RBI in 14 games this month, although it's Mills who leads the club with a .352 (19-54) batting average in June. Not to be outdone, 2B Cristo Arnal is hitting .341 (15-44) this month.

Southern Hospitality...With their win yesterday, Akron jumped out to a 4.5-game lead over the second-place Reading Phillies in the Southern Division, the biggest lead for the Aeros since May 29th. Additionally, the Aeros are now just 1.5-games behind Double-A Birmingham (43-20, White Sox) of the Southern League for the best record in minor league baseball.
