Admirals Topple Stars
January 5, 2006 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI-It was déjà vu all over again for the Milwaukee Admirals in their 4-2 win over the Iowa Stars on Thursday night. For the second time this year at the Bradley Center, the Ads spotted Iowa a first period, multi-goal lead before storming back in the second and third periods to double up the Stars and come away with the win.
Many of the fans weren't even in their seats before the Admirals had fallen behind 2-0 4:22 in the first period on Iowa goals by Toby Petersen and Junior Lessard.
Greg Classen got Milwaukee on the board at the 1:57 of the second period off of assists from Libor Pivko and Kris Beech. Chris Durno tied the game at two at the 6:56 mark of the third and also posted the game-winning goal with 7:45 remaining in the contest. Scott May added an empty net goal to give the Ads their final score.
Durno's two-goal performance was the first of his career at the AHL level. The rookie from Scarborough, ONT now has ten points (3g-7a) on the season. Kris Beech and Darren Haydar both pitched in with two assists for the Milwaukee offense. After giving up the two early goals, Admirals goaltender Pekka Rinne was stellar in net, stopping the remaining 23 shots thrown his way.
Back on November 11, the Admirals surrendered three first period tallies to the Stars before coming back to win that game by a final score of 6-3.
The Admirals continue a stretch of three-games-in-three-nights tomorrow night when they travel to Cleveland to battle the Barons before returning to the Bradley Center for a Saturday night fray with the Omaha Knights. The first 3,500 fans will receive a retro bobble-head doll. It will mark the first time in franchise history that the team has given away bobble-head.
For tickets, fans can call Ticketmaster at (414) 276-4545 or log on to www.milwaukeeadmirals.com and click on the tickets button. Groups of ten or more can call the Admirals office at (414) 227-0550.
