
Flames Re-Assign Regehr to Omaha

Omaha, NE - The Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights announced today that the Calgary Flames, their National Hockey League affiliate, have re-assigned defenseman Richie Regehr to Omaha. He will rejoin the Knights in time for their game against the Chicago Wolves on Friday, January 6th at 7:00 p.m. at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
Regehr played in three games with the Flames during the recall, his first NHL action. He earned an assist on the game-winning goal in his first NHL game, a 4-2 win over the Minnesota Wild on December 29, 2005. He also had two penalty minutes and finished the stint at +1. Regehr has played in 31 games with the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights this season, recording 18 points (3 goals, 15 assists) with two power play goals, one short-handed goal and 34 penalty minutes. The younger brother of Flames' defenseman Robyn Regehr, Richie is fourth on the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights in points (18) and second in assists (15). In 95 AHL career games, the native of Bundung, Indonesia has accumulated 43 points (12 goals, 31 assists) with 94 penalty minutes with Omaha and Lowell.
The 6'0" 195 lbs. rearguard made his professional debut during the 2004-05 campaign after playing in 307 games in the Western Hockey League with Kelowna and Portland posting 199 points (49 goals, 150 assists) and 355 penalty minutes. The Flames signed Regehr as a free agent on July 6, 2004.
Following tomorrow's game against Chicago, the Knights will travel to Milwaukee to play the Admirals on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and finish the week on Sunday at Chicago at 5:00 p.m. All three games can be heard live on 1420 KOTK and on the web at omahaaksarbenknights.com. Tickets for all home games are available at the Civic Auditorium box office, Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The box office is open through the opening face-off on game nights.
