
Admirals Start Busy Week of Rivalry Games at Home

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals will play four games in six days against top division rivals this week beginning tonight and Thursday night at Scope against the Charlotte Checkers.
Yesterday, the Admirals returned from their holiday break in a 3-1 loss at Hershey against the Bears. Captain Chris Durno scored Norfolk's lone goal as the Admirals saw an eight-game point streak (6-0-2-0) end.
The second-place Admirals will battle the third-place Charlotte Checkers tonight and Thursday night at Scope. They will then hit the road over the weekend, renewing their intense rivalry with the first-place Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday before seeking revenge against the fourth-place Hershey Bears on Sunday.
EAST DIVISION STANDINGS
At 18-7-5-1 (42 pts.) the Admirals are in second place in the East Division. The Admirals trail the division-leading Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (24-7-0-0, 48 pts.) by six points. They lead the third-place Charlotte Checkers (17-10-1-3, 38 pts.) by four points and the fourth-place Hershey Bears (18-12-0-1, 37 pts.) by five points. The Binghamton Senators (15-13-2-2, 34 pts.), Syracuse Crunch (11-16-1-3, 26 pts.), Albany Devils (12-17-0-1, 25 pts.) and Adirondack Phantoms (6-24-2-0, 14 pts.) wrap-up the division.

NORFOLK NOTES:
- Norfolk saw its eight-game point streak (6-0-2-2) was snapped yesterday in Hershey. It was the longest point streak by the Admirals since a nine-game point streak (7-0-1-1) from January 22 - February 5, 2010, and was just the third point streak of eight or more games since the 2007-08 season.
- The Admirals have standings points in 13 of their last 16 games (11-3-2-0).
- Ty Wishart saw his five-game assist streak snapped (6A) last night in Hershey.
- With an assist last night, Johan Harju broke a five-way tie for the Norfolk team scoring lead with his 25th AHL point of 2010-11. Harju leads four players tied for second at 24 points (Blair Jones, Marc-Antoine Pouliot, Paul Szczechura and James Wright). Matt Fornataro is only one point back of that group with 23 points.
- Norfolk and Hershey each have six players with 23 or more points - the most in the AHL.
- Yesterday, goaltender Jaroslav Janus was reassigned to the Admirals by the Tampa Bay Lightning from the ECHL's Florida Everblades.
- Goaltender Cedrick Desjardins remains on NHL recall to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
- Norfolk's game in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Saturday will be its 100th regular season game against the Penguins.
- Norfolk's game in Hershey on Sunday will be its 100th regular season game against the Bears.
