Senators Recall Forward Zack Smith from Binghamton

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 28, 2010) - The Ottawa Senators today recalled forward Zack Smith from the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators . He is recalled on an emergency basis to replace the injured Jason Spezza.

Smith, 22, has recorded 12 points (seven goals, five assists) and 32 penalty minutes in 22 games with the B-Sens this season. A native of Maple Creek, Sask., Smith began the season with Ottawa, playing in the team's first three games, before being assigned to Binghamton on Oct. 20.

The recall marks the third of the season for Smith who has played 10 games with Ottawa in 2010-11, scoring twice while registering 14 penalty minutes. In 26 career NHL games (all with the Senators), Smith has four goals, one assist and 28 penalty minutes.

The B-Sens next see action tonight when they visit Hershey. Ottawa hosts Carolina on Wednesday, Dec. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
