Florida Panthers Reassign Ellerby to Amerks

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans Vice President of Hockey Operations Ted Nolan announced today that the Florida Panthers have reassigned defenseman Keaton Ellerby to the Amerks. Ellerby is scheduled to meet the team in Cleveland later today.

Ellerby, 22, returns to the Amerks after earning his third promotion to the National Hockey League this season, where he has four assists and six penalty minutes in 17 games with the Panthers. A native of Strathmore, Alberta, Ellerby recorded his first NHL point and multi-point game with two assists in Florida's 4-3 win over the New York Islanders on October 23rd earlier this year. In 39 career NHL games with Florida, Ellerby has registered four points (0+4) and eight penalty minutes.

In just seven American Hockey League contests with Rochester this season, the 6-foot-4, 186-pound blueliner has collected two assists and four penalty minutes. The third-year pro was Florida's first-round selection (10 th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

The Amerks hit the road on Wednesday, December 29th as they take on the Lake Erie Monsters at Quicken Loans Arena in the heart of downtown Cleveland. The 7:00 p.m. bout will be the first of eight meetings between the North Division rivals this season and will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk.
