Wolves and Thrashers Swap Forwards

The Atlanta Thrashers have recalled center PATRICE CORMIER (pa-TREEZ KOHR-mee-ay) from the Chicago Wolves and assigned center Tim Stapleton to Chicago.

Stapleton has skated in eight games with Atlanta since being signed on Nov. 30. He also appeared in 20 contests with the AHL's San Antonio Rampage earlier this season, recording eight goals and 15 points.

Last year, the 28-year-old forward ranked second on the Wolves and shared 10th in the league with a career-high 30 goals and ranked second on Chicago with 59 points in 73 games. He also shared third on the team with 29 assists and paced Wolves forwards with a +22 plus/minus rating. The Forest Park, Ill., native also notched two goals in six outings with the Thrashers last year.

Overall, Stapleton has registered three goals in 18 NHL games with Atlanta and the Toronto Maple Leafs, and 158 points (66G, 92A) in 172 AHL outings with the Wolves, Rampage, Toronto Marlies and Portland Pirates.

CORMIER has appeared in 11 contests with the Wolves this season, collecting five points (2G, 3A) and a +8 plus/minus rating.

The Wolves hit the road for a four-game road swing through Canada beginning with a matchup against the Hamilton Bulldogs at Copps Coliseum tonight at 6 p.m.
