Admirals Shutout Bruins 3-0

PROVIDENCE, RI. - Behind 37 saves by goaltender Dustin Tokarski, the Norfolk Admirals (8-4-0-1) shutout the Providence Bruins (6-7-1-0), 3-0, on Sunday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island. The Admirals concluded their road trip with a record of 4-3-0-0 and will return home on Wednesday Nov. 9, to take on their East-Division rival, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Pierre-Cedric Labrie and Carter Ashton each had a goal and an assist in the contest, while Mike Angelidis tallied his second goal of the season in the first period. Dustin Tokarski turned aside all 37 shots he faced, including 31 shots over the last two periods, for his second shutout of the season.

Pierre-Cedric Labrie gave the Admirals an early 1-0 lead, eight minutes into the opening period. Labrie's first goal since opening night, came when he tipped in a shot from Dana Tyrell, over the glove hand of Bruins net minder Michael Hutchinson at the 8:19 mark of the opening period.

With just 1:45 remaining in the first, the Admirals extended their lead to 2-0. While he was being knocked down to the ice, Admirals team captain Mike Angelidis sent a shot from the edge of the right face off circle over the glove Hutchinson. Cory Conacher and Jeff Dimmen picked up the assists on Angelidis' second goal of the season.

Carter Ashton gave the Admirals a 3-0 lead with his team-leading eleventh goal of the season. Just seconds after exiting the penalty box, Labrie skated into the Bruins zone and fed Ashton in the low slot. Ashton spun around and sent a shot to the lower right corner of the net behind Hutchinson to extend his team-lead on goals with 5:36 remaining in regulation.

Dustin Tokarski (4-3-1) turned aside all 37 shots he faced for his second shutout victory of the season. Bruins net minder Michael Hutchinson (0-2-0) stopped 27 of 30 shots for the regulation loss.

Both teams were 0-3 on the power play.

The Admirals return to Scope Wednesday, November 9, to take on their East Division rivals, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m. in the first Admirals Value Night of the 2011-12 regular season.
